MSME Ministry's flagship credit-linked subsidy scheme for setting up new micro-enterprises in manufacturing and service sectors. PMEGP is implemented nationally by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) as the nodal agency, with State KVIC Directorates, State Khadi and Village Industries Boards, and District Industries Centres handling on-the-ground processing alongside partner banks. It was formed by merging the older Prime Minister's Rojgar Yojana and Rural Employment Generation Programme, and beneficiaries must contribute a minimum of their own funds toward project cost (10% for general category, lower for special categories) before the subsidy and bank loan are disbursed.
