BIRAC SEED Fund

Provides first equity exposure up to ₹30 lakh to post-PoC biotech startups through partner BioNEST incubators. This fund is exclusively for the biotech/life sciences sector. As of recent BIRAC reporting, the SEED Fund had backed around 112 post-PoC biotech startups with roughly ₹30 crore in cumulative first equity exposure, with about 118 resulting products going on to commercialization. Like LEAP, it is administered through partner BioNEST incubators, which each receive a grant-in-aid of about ₹200 lakh per cycle to invest into shortlisted startups, so applicants must first be accepted by one of the listed incubator partners rather than applying to BIRAC directly.
