ANIC funds productization and commercialization of innovations solving national challenges. Official AIM guidance shows grant support up to ₹1 crore for selected innovators/startups. ANIC funds startups and MSMEs already at the prototype stage through to commercialization over a 12-18 month window, with the ₹1 crore grant ceiling and associated AIM ecosystem support (mentoring, market access) explicitly aimed at 'productization' — turning an existing technology into a sellable product — rather than early research. Historically the program has focused challenge statements on national-priority sectors such as education, health, water and sanitation, agriculture, housing, energy and mobility, and its 2.0 iteration refreshed guidelines to sharpen this sectoral targeting. Because ANIC is challenge-based, applicants need to align their solution to a currently open theme rather than submitting an open-ended pitch.
