ARISE supports MSMEs/startups working on applied research and innovation for sectoral problem statements. Public AIM/PIB references indicate grant support up to ₹50 lakh. ARISE was launched jointly with ISRO and four line ministries — Defence, Food Processing Industries, Health and Family Welfare, and Housing and Urban Affairs — under the broader Aatmanirbhar Bharat ARISE-ANIC initiative, with each ministry issuing its own sector-specific problem statements rather than a single generic call. This 'first buyer' model means selected MSMEs and startups are effectively building toward the sponsoring government department as an early customer, not just receiving a grant, which shapes how proposals should be framed around procurement-readiness.
